Gastric Balloon

A gastric balloon is a saline-filled balloon made of silicon which place inside a person’s stomach in a weight-loss procedure through the mouth. It is also known as an intragastric balloon and helps in losing weight without any invasive treatment.

How is the Procedure Performed?

Before undergoing the procedure for balloon placement, your healthcare provider may provide you with instructions to prepare for the procedure such as lab tests, restrictions on intake of food and water, and medications.

What is the Difference between Gastric Bypass & Gastric Sleeve?

 

Gastric Sleeve is the procedure in which a smaller channel is created within the stomach. This is done by removing that part of the stomach. This narrow area is through which the food passes down the intestines.

Gastric Bypass is a surgical procedure in which a small pouch is artificially made, that completely bypasses the stomach and connects it through the small intestine. This rerouting of food makes it stay in the stomach for an even lesser duration than it would when a gastric sleeve is built.
