How is the postoperative life of the living organ donor influenced?

In our center, laparoscopic surgery is preferred for living donor nephrectomy (removal of kidney). If no complication is faced, kidney donors are discharged 3 to 4 days after the surgery and they continue routine life and work activities 7 to 10 days later.

On the other hand, living liver donor is discharged within one week under normal circumstances and they can engage in routine life and work activities within 3 to 4 weeks.

Legally Accepted Donors for Kidney and Liver Transplant

Legally accepted donors include up to 4th degree relatives of the recipient or the spouse of the recipient. If this condition is not met, it is necessary to get approval from Provincial Ethical committees that that are affiliated to the Ministry of Health.
