Professional Experience Founding partner and retina specialist at the Institute of Ocular Microsurgery. Academic Head of the Master’s and Postgraduate programmes at IMO Research Foundation, which is part of the Department of Surgery at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

Professor of Ophthalmology andCoordinator of the Ophthalmology knowledge area of the Faculty of Medicine at the UAB. He is President of the Catalan Ophthalmology Society, Head of the Ophthalmology Department at Vall d’Hebron University Hospital and Director of the Ophthalmology Biomedical Research Unit at the same hospital since 2007. Member of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Barcelona.

On a national level, he is Vice-president of the Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society (SERV) and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Ophthalmology Society.

On an international level, he holds the position of Liaison Leader of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS) for Europe, is a member of the Board of Directors of EURETINA and the Board of Directors of Club Jules Gonin, as well as being a founding member and professor at the European School of Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO).

He is a specialist in retina surgery, with a special interest in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy and complicated retinal detachment surgery. He is apioneer in Spain in the treatment of macular hole, intraocular tumour surgery and retinal vascular disease.
