However, for adults, complicating factors such as lack of jaw growth, may create special treatment planning needs.
Periodontic Dentistry
Periodontic dentistry is concerned with the treatment of the gingival areas including gums, soft tissues and gum diseases. Periodontal disease or gum disease are used normally to refer to gingivitis and periodontitis. Depending on the stages of gum diseases, various periodontal treatment may be required. Deep cleaning, root planning & scaling or gum cleaning is a periodontal treatment normally done to prevent and treat gum diseases.
Endodontic Dentistry
Endodontic Dentistry is related to the field of dentistry related with tooth pulp and pulp problems. Damage to teeth, such as cracks or deep cavities, can reach down to the nerve tissue and blood vessels residing inthe soft pulp of the tooth. Damage to the pulp can lead to painful swelling, damage to the jaw bones or muscles, and the formation of abscesses. If left unchecked, this could lead to loss of tooth or tooth removal.
Damaged pulp once led to the removal of the tooth. With today's advancement, however, dentists use a procedure called a root canal to restore and protectthe tooth's nerves and blood vessels hence saving the tooth.
The primary goal of endodontic treatment is to create an environment within the root canal system which allows for healing and continued maintenance of the health of periradicular tissue. A successful procedure is one which has removed bacteria in the tooth and completely filled the canals.
Oral Surgery
Oral surgery bascially involves any dental surgical treatments. Dental consultation, proper diagnoses and treatmentplan with our dental specialists will first be required before oral surgerytakes place.
At BIDC, modern diagnostic technologies such as digital CT scan and x-ray machines and equipment are utilized. Sterilization for critical surgical instruments are autoclaved and equipment are triple-checked for expiry date, chemical indicators and biological indicators for total sterilization prior to its use in surgery.
Preventive Dentistry
“Prevention Is Better Than Cure” is the motto adapted. Your teeth can and should last a lifetime. Prevention and early detection are key inavoiding costly and painful dental treatment. Prevention begins with the control of plaque and calculus, the main cause of decay and gum disease. The most important steps in maintaining oral health and preventing tooth decay are regular brushing and a balanced diet.
