American Heart of Poland - Overview
American Heart of Poland Group (AHP) was established in the year 2000 by the team of outstanding physicians from both Poland and the United States.
At present, the Group comprises of 30 medical centres and Ustron Health Resort, what makes American Heart of Poland the biggest European network with such a complex offer for patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases: from the prophylaxis and diagnostics, through highly-innovative cardiology, cardiac surgery and vascular surgery procedures, to individually tailored rehabilitation allowing the patient to achieve full and lasting recovery. The group is the largest network of units that specialise in treating cardiovascular diseases in Europe with their outstanding 300 doctors cooperating in cardiology, cardiac and vascular surgeries.

American Heart of Poland Group does not only focus on diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation in patients suffering from heart and circulatory system diseases, but also carries out research activity. The Centre for Cardiovascular Research and Development (CCRD) constitutes an important part of the Group. By implementing modern solutions into everyday clinical practice, the CCRD improves cardiovascular treatment outcomes in Polish hospitals. The most recent projects carried out by the CCRD include:
- Hybrid coronary revascularization carried out in patients with advanced multi vessel coronary artery disease;
- Percutaneous mitral annuloplasty for the alleviation of heart failure symptoms in patients with mitral valve reguritation;
- Aortic valve replacement with the use of a modern, self-expanding, equine pericardial aortic bioprosthesis – 3f ® Aortic Bioprosthesis by Medtronic;
- Clinical trial assessing the use of the first Polish drug coated balloon (PAX®, Balton company) in the treatment of coronary and peripheral artery diseases.

Success Rate
The efficiency of the hospital's cardiology treatments:
Survival of patients in Polish American Heart Clinics in the case of myocardial infarction without ST-segment elevation is on the level 90,6% - comparing with European index 88,9 % and in the case of unstable coronary heart disease 95,7 % comparing to 94,7%.

- 3-year-long survival of American Heart Clinics patients with ACS is better than the results of a comparable group of patients enrolled in the GRACE International Registry (Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events) of about 7% (87% vs. 80%, respectively for AHP and GRACE registry).

The American Heart of Poland Group Advantages
"Center of Excellence in Cardiology & Cardiosurgery" certificate awarded to American Heart of Poland Group in 2014 by the International Healthcare Commission, IHC. The certificate was awarded for treatment results and the number of patients who use the Clinics. AHP is the first facility in Europe to be awarded such a specialised certiciate in cardiology and cardiac surgery and the second clinic in Poland to be honoured with a quality certificate by the International Healthcare Commission (IHC).ISO 9001 : 2008, ISO 14001 : 2004 certificates which confirm the highest quality of services at AHP and high level of organisation. This is also a confirmation of the organisation's activity aimed at preventing adverse environmental impact by practicing rational use of resources and environmental care.
