Professional Experience

He gained experience in various pediatric subspecialties and neonatology during his postgraduate training.
After his M.D., he joined Pediatric intensive care unit in a leading hospital in India. Following this, he joined the Neonatology Fellowship programme by Indian Academy of Pediatrics at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi. During his fellowship he gained experience in management of variety of medical, surgical and cardiac conditions in Newborns. He also gained experience in sick newborn transport (both air and road transport). After successfully completing his fellowship, he worked as Junior Consultant at a hospital in Mumbai for a brief period.
Subsequently, Dr. Shailesh Patil moved to a hospital in the United Kingdom where he gained extensive experience in managing extreme premature babies (up to 23-24wks gestation and around 500gms birth weight). He learnt about use of Nitric oxide & HFOV for PPHN, total body cooling for birth asphyxia. He also gained good experience in Neonatal transport. He underwent training for Air transport by Airmed. He learnt to perform cranial ultrasound and bedside 2D-ECHO. He successfully completed the MRCPCH examination in England. He participated in various research trials at Oxford.
After coming back to India, he joined as a Consultant Neonatologist at a Super Specialty Children Hospital, before shifting base to SevenHills Hospital, Mumbai. Here, Dr. Shailesh Patil has the support of a dedicated staff and some of the latest equipments in Neonatal & Pediatric Care. |
