Emanuel trained in additions treatment with Hazelden in Ireland and after graduating worked with the Sao Fiel Treatment Centre in Portugal before joining the Atitude Addictions Consultancy Team as their representative on the Algarve. He later moved to Lisbon to work with Atitude as a therapist at their facility in Cascais where he also worked as their Equine therapist. He subsequently returned to the Algarve to take up a position as Treatment team leader at a local Portuguese facility. In addition to his excellent qualification in addictions treatment Emanuel also trained in the UK in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which remains a key professional interest and passion. He maintains his interest as well as his skill by frequent professional development in all aspects of Equine therapy.
Emanuel has been closely associated with Nova Vida since its inception and on his return to the Algarve he quickly resurrected the Equine Assisted Psychotherapy as part of Nova Vida’s programme. Emmanuel conducts this weekly therapy along with Katherine, the horse expert. In addition to his role as an addictions therapist Emanuel maintains a strong interest in experiential therapy. |
