During his professional career, Doctor Melgar has received training in hand surgery, spine surgery, tumor surgery, children surgery, arthroscopy, knee and hip joint replacement, physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Major Positions Held:
From 1972 through 1999 during his tenure as Orthopedic and Trauma Surgeon at the Santo Tomás Hospital in Panama, Doctor Melgar served for two years as the chief of the Rehabilitation Service, chief of the Orthopedic and Trauma service for ten years and Chief of the Surgery Department for two more years. From 1990 through 1994, he was the Medical and Social Policies counselor of the President of Panama, Guillermo Endara Galimani. |
