About	Dr. Piva helped found and now leads the Neurosurgery Department at CIMA San Jose Hospital as well as serving as an attending ophthalmologist. For the past 10 years, Dr. Piva and his team have specialized in spinal and cranial surgery; they perform a wide variety of neurologic and ocultoplastic procedures each year including but not limited to trauma repair, comestic surgery, and oncological surgical management of malignant and benign brain tumors.
Education	He completed his medical training in the University of Costa Rica where he specialized in neurosurgery; he stayed there to complete a second residency in ophthalmology. To build his expertise, he has trained in both neurosurgery and opthamology throughout the US including Los Angeles and San Francisco, California; St. Louis, Missouri; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
