Dr. Ortiz completed advanced fellowship training on the retina and vitreous at the L.S.U. Eye Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, following his ophthalmology residency in the Instituto Barraquer de Oftalmologia in Barcelona, Spain. In addition, he has received specialized training in central and branch vein occlusion, retinal detachment and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Ortíz is a prominent member of a variety of professional organizations including, the Medical College of Costa Rica, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists and, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He wrote the acclaimed article, ”Vitrectomias en las Patologias Vitreorretinales: Nuestros Resultados”, in 1986. |
