Prof. Abraham Adunsky MD., Director of the Geriatric Division, the Sheba Medical Center. Prof. Adunsky has completed his medical education at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel- Aviv University. He acquired specialization in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. The Geriatric Division at the Sheba Medical Center, led by Prof. Adunsky, is dedicated to caring for the particular needs and demands of the elderly while striving to optimize the individual’s functional integration into family life and society. We have adopted a new, holistic concept of providing comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation for the elderly in one facility no matter what their specific illness or condition. Included among the many features are; an Acute General Geriatric Department, the Geriatric Orthopedic Unit, including orthopedic surgeons from the rehabilitation hospital; treatment for victims of severe Stroke; and a Memory Clinic which specializes, in addition to other diseases, in the diagnosis and treatment of Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Emphasis is placed, in all departments, on providing Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Eating Therapy, psychological services and more. All this is provided to our geriatric patients in a new, specially designed and equipped building by a caring multidisciplinary staff that includes physicians, nurses, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers, and dietitians. |
