He was born in Elazig, 1952. He finished his primary and middle school in TED Ankara School. Graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1978 and received his specialist title in 1983 from the same university in the field of Psychiatry.
He served his military service in Girne Military Hospital and did his compulsory service in Manisa Mental Health and Hospital of Maternity. In 1987, after he passed the exam, he was appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Anadolu University Medical Faculty and in 1990 he became Associate Professor at the same clinic. In 1991 he passed the exam and was appointed to the clinical department of Psychiatry Hospital of Bakırkoy Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases. He established the Neurosis clinic of this hospital and managed it for 15 years. After 2006, he managed the general psychiatric clinic of the same hospital. In the course of his teaching and clinical supervision, 191 psychiatric assistants, 45 neurologists and 122 family physician assistants were trained to become specialists.
Between 2008 and 2011, he was a member of the Observation Department of Forensic Medicine Institution. After retiring in 2011, he became a Professor at Uskudar University and still continues his studies at this university.
There are over 100 publications published in national and international journals. Throughout his professional life, he has participated in many national and international congresses as a speaker and also made presentations. He speaks English fluently. He is married and has two children.
He is the founder and president of the Anxiety Disorders Research and Treatment Association. He is a member of Turkish Psychiatric Association, Turkish Neuropsychiatric Association, Group Psychotherapy Association, Biological Psychiatry Association and American Psychiatric Association.
He is an advisory board member of numerous scientific medical journals. |
