Dr Amrith has published several articles in notable journals. Her landmark study is on tear outflow physiology. She has ongoing research interests in thyroid eye disease, Asian perspective in eyelid and lacrimal diseases and trauma reconstruction. She has reviewed several journal articles for international ophthalmology journals. |

Dr Shantha Amrith is a Senior Consultant Eye Surgeon / Oculoplastic Surgeon, National University Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor under National University of Singapore.
After two short fellowships in Sydney Eye Hospital, Australia and University of Cincinnati Hospitals, USA in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, she has been an Oculoplastic (Eye Plastic) specialist since 1989, with over 20 years of experience.
She has vast experience in managing a wide variety of patients with various lid, lacrimal and orbital pathologies and injuries. She has also done a fair number of cosmetic surgeries for sagging eyebrows and baggy upper and lower eyelids. She is experienced in using the latest image guidance system (IGS) for reconstructing orbital fractures following facial trauma.
She is active in teaching/supervising resident trainees. She has trained many fellows in oculoplastic surgery from various countries such as Syria, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines. She has gone on teaching missions to Myamar. She gives regular lectures to undergraduates and teaches them in clinics as well. She is involved in post-graduate examinations as an examiner locally as well as overseas. |

Dr Amrith has been awarded the "APAO Achievement Award" in 2011. APAO is the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology with thousands of members from the Asia-Pacific region. She was a founding member and treasurer for 2 years of the Asia-Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She has been invited as a speaker in several international meetings. |
