Her clinical work includes both medical and surgical retinal diseases, with a large content of age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease (including complex macular oedema and advanced proliferative diabetic retinopathy), retinal vascular disorders, retinal detachment including complex proliferative vitreoretinopathy and giant tears, and macular surgery including macular holes and epiretinal memberanes. Her practice also includes retinal dystrophies (including retinitis pigmentosa), retinoblastoma and intraocular infections. |

Professional Experience

Dr Caroline Chee is presently a Senior Consultant and Head for Surgical Retina at the National University Hospital, and Clinical Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore.
Dr Chee underwent general ophthalmic and retinal training in Singapore before proceeding to retinal fellowships in the United Kingdom, with Mr John Scott and Mr Declan Flanagan at Addenbrooke Hospital, Cambridge and Professor Alan Bird and Mr Robert Cooling at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London) from 1992-1993.
Dr Chee teaches medical students, supervisors ophthalmology residents and accepts both local and foreign retinal fellows for training at the NUHS. She is an examiner in the postgraduate ophthalmology examinations. She was previously Department Director for postgraduate education and played an active role as examiner of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, both locally and abroad. She is currently engaged in research on the retina and low vision and is on the review board of several journals. |
